Why Engage in Global Missions?
Love for God
If we’re going to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we’re going to value what He values above our own passions, and care that His name is known and His glory made famous in every corner of the earth. God is weaving a global story, and your life has a role to play in it.
Love for People
People are perishing into an eternity separated from God, when Jesus has already provided everything they need to be pardoned and to live with Him forever. How could we love God with all our heart, and our neighbors as ourselves, while keeping our greatest treasure hidden from them? Roughly a third of the people on earth still know almost nothing about the God of the Bible or the work of Jesus to save them. Real engagement in missions starts by shifting our focus from places already reached toward the communities that remain completely cut off, billions of people who live with zero access to the Gospel message. Global missions isn’t just a general calling; it’s a strategic effort to close that specific gap, so that everyone, everywhere, has at least one chance to hear about Jesus.
Obedient Disciples
Jesus told His followers to make disciples, through preaching, baptizing, and teaching them to obey everything He commanded. Is it possible to obey Jesus without doing what He told us to do? Missions is about helping people recognize His worth, enough to give everything for Him in obedience. When you connect your own calling to the people who haven’t heard yet, you take part in the Great Commission itself.
Missions can feel overwhelming, but the priority is simple: reach the people who currently have no way to hear. That happens when local churches and individuals move intentionally toward the unreached.
